| A "Rule of Thumb" or better
yet, a "Rule of Hand" is to eat a meal no larger than your hand.
Simply observe the palm of
your hand as well as its thickness. This will be your guideline for your
meal portion. This measurement will closely determine your optimal portion
and proportion requirement of protein, carbohydrates, fats at each meal
for it will correlate with each individual's size.
Next, visually divide your
hand into one-thirds and allocate 1/3 volume to protein, 1/3 volume to
carbohydrates, and 1/3 volume to fat containing food.
Remember, proper diet balance
and portion is not an exact science and it does not require exact calorie
counting and measurements. You don't need to count calories or guess at
how big a proportion constitutes three or four ounces
However, the system does
require you have knowledge of which foods are protein, carbohydrates, and
fat. This will be addressed for you later in this book. |
